Putin: Lukoil to implement four projects in Gulf of Mexico

XIAMEN, China, Sep 5 (PRIME) -- Russian oil major Lukoil plans to implement four projects in the Gulf of Mexico, including three projects with French partners, President Vladimir Putin told reporters on Tuesday.

“As far as Mexico is concerned, we also have our interests here, and direct interests. For example, our company Lukoil plans to implement four projects in the Gulf of Mexico, three of them jointly with French partners, one project independently,” Putin said at a news conference after a BRICS summit.

In June, Lukoil’s unit Lukoil International Upstream Holding won an auction for a 521-square meter oil block in the Cuencas del Sureste province of Mexico. Lukoil offered the royalty of 75% for the right to develop the block.

Earlier, Lukoil CEO Vagit Alekperov said the company won a tender to develop three more blocks in Mexico in a consortium with Italy’s Eni.
